Summer Veggie Patch Kit - Garden Layout

The following example layout is based on a 90cm x 90cm raised garden bed.  We recommend that you use this layout as a starting point and adjust to suit your growing space. Click here to watch a video that provides more information regarding garden layouts and plants spacing.

Additional Growing Notes

Your garden kit includes 16 germination pods. This is enough to grow 4 corn, 2 tomato, 4 basil, 4 beans, 1 spaghetti squash, 1 zucchini and 1 cucumber. Of course you don't have to grow the quantities as per our recommended layout, you can use the seeds and germination pods to grow any combination you like.

Items marked with * should be sown directly in your garden bed and do not require the use of germination pods

The tomatoes will require a stake for support as they grow. We recommend 1.8m wooden garden stakes which you can find at most nurseries.

Beetroot can struggle in the hot Australian summer and are best planted in part shade in hot regions. In our recommended garden layout they are purposely planted between the tomatoes as they will create shade later in the season. Keep this in mind when adjusting the recommended layout to suit your growing space.

The beans are a dwarf variety and won't require anything to climb however you can tie them to a stake them if they become overly tall.

The spaghetti squash can sprawl along the ground, however it will look much more impressive if it has something to climb such as a trellis, fence or garden arch. This will allow them plenty of vertical space to climb and will be very Instagram-able!
